Child abuse statistics are staggering. Help us change their lives.

Over 3 million reports of child abuse are made each year in the United States. Thousands actually die as a result of the abuse. For those who survive, the emotional trauma remains long after the external bruises have healed. A child who is severely mistreated may become depressed, withdrawn, suicidal or develop violent behavior. As victims get older, they may use drugs or alcohol, try to run away, refuse discipline or abuse others. In adulthood, they may develop depression, suicidal behavior and substance abuse. Identifying a child victim is the first step. Recognizing the importance of early trauma to future development is crucial.

The Abuse Victim's Reality

  • In the United States, 57% of women in prison and 55% of women in local jails were abused as children.
  • Over 60% of people in drug rehabilitation centers report being abused or neglected as a child.
  • Approximately 30% of abused and neglected children will later abuse their own children, continuing the horrible cycle of abuse.
  • Approximately 80% of 21 year olds abused as children met criteria for at least one psychological disorder.

Eddie's Road directly funds and supports a variety of quality public and private programs dedicated to assist abused children and young adults.  The majority of our funds are raised by participating in motorcycle rallies and events that were the passion of Eddie James, the man our foundation was built to honor.

Our focus is to stop the cycle of abuse through proper education, mentoring, counseling and activities that encourage children to reach their full potential without the influences of violence, addiction or neglect.
